Hi Everyone,

I'm posting this note because I would really like some help. I am currently due to qualify as a birth and pregnancy consultant - meaning i'll be working with people who want to become pregnant, are pregnant or who have had children and need help in the first couple of years or throughout the full journey. Due to the lack of midwives in the UK I will be working with people to help ease them through the whole process. So I would really like to know what advice people really want. My aim is to create a service with everything included that people may need help with. And as your the experts I could really use your help!!

If you get 2 spare minutes could you please help me?

Thankyou and Good Luck with your pregnancy.

Lisa.

it helps if you have been pregnant and have kids have kid because if you dont than you really dont know what position we are in. its like you have to be in the persons shoes. if it was me i would really want a person who is kind and and someone you can really talk. you want to be friends! i wouod want someone who is honest and isnt afraid to say what they are thinking. its important that you imagine its you like if you were in my position how would you feel what would you want. you will want to get as much information as possible. ask question i would feel alot better if you asked questions cause then i know you want to help. but most of all i would want to to be really involved!

I have had four kids and I see one area that is ignored, at least here in the U.S. That is the postpartum period. If you do not have family living nearby to help, people still seem to assume that you will be back to normal a few weeks after having a baby and that you will not need any help. My postpartums were rougher than my labors--I had four uncomplicated vaginal births using the Bradley method, but the postpartum period had complications. One time I had a thyroid crisis. Another time I had a weakened immune system and was down sick for ten days of every month for six months. I would run a fever of 102-105 for several days every month. After another baby, I had arthritis for eight months. Only after the last baby did I feel fairly good.
