I know that the 'Las Vegas Strip' is a nickname for Las Vegas Blvd between the 'Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas' sign on the south and somewhere in the vicinity of downtown on the north. Can you tell me the specific cross streets which begin and end the 'Strip?'

Here's my fave link for a map of the Strip:

For perspective, it's about 5 miles from Mandalay Bay on the South end to Stratosphere on the north end.

Things are always changing here in Vegas, so there are a couple of things not yet updated on this map: the Aladdin is now Planet Hollywood. The Stardust is now only dust. And the Barbary Coast is now called Bill's Gambling Hall. Other than that, this map is accurate and very useful.

p.s. "downtown" is about 2 miles north of the Stratosphere.

The strip goes from Tropicana to Sahara, I believe both are blvds. But the Sahara side is considered the old stip. The whole stip is not encolsed within these two streets though as the Stratosphere is North of Sahara and Mandalay Bay, the Luxor, Excalibur and the Tropicana are South of Tropicana. But those are the two major cross streets on Las Vegas Blvd at the ends. On the North side a lot of casinos are getting torn down and new casinos will be built. (Stardust is gone, Frontier gets torn down this week and the Riviera will go next year).

The Strip runs from the Stratosphere at the northern end to Mandalay Bay on the southern end. Of the 4 miles, nearly 3.5 miles of it is located in the township of Paradise, Clark County. Depending on the definition, very little to none of it is within the Las Vegas city limits. McCarran Airport (LAS) is located at the southern end of The Strip, along with the famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign, which also appears in the median of Las Vegas Boulevard at the north end near the intersection of E. St. Louis and S. Main Street. The "South Strip" is used to describe the section of Las Vegas Boulevard between Sunset Road or Blue Diamond Road and St. Rose Parkway.

To answer your question - the "official" cross streets that mark the starting and ending points of the Las Vegas Strip are Russell Road to the South, and Sahara Avenue to the North.

The strip is pretty much Sunset Rd. and Las Vegas Blvd. to Sahara and LV Blvd.

Downtown is pretty much Charleston to Bonanza, from Main St. to LV Blvd.

There are casinos outside the strip, such as Arizona Charlies, Sunset Station, Texas Station, Boulder Station, Sam's Town, The Orleans, and several others.

I just drove the the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign yesterday on the way to fry's electronics. I think it's at Russell Rd. and LV Blvd.

Traditionally, it has been Tropicana Blvd on the south to Sahara on the North. It is now from Russell Rd, which is just south of Mandalay Bay north to the Stratosphere.

There arn't specific roads, its all perspective. If you build something south of mandalay bay, then russel won't be the end anymore.

and please explain how LV blvd isn't in las vegas when the Zip is 89123, Las Vegas, NV.

lv township... maybe. i don't know the lines. but it is in the city. every so often someone googles that post on wiki and has no idea what the hell they are talking about.
