To graft two plants together you cut a stem from one plant (the one you want to grow) and you cut a slice in the trunk or stem of another plant (the one that will be the host) and you put the stem into the slice and pack wet peat moss around the whole thing and wrap the moss in plastic. You keep the moss wet for several weeks, the gently peel it off and check your graft to see if it has taken. If it has, you cut off the host plant just above the graft if you only want the one plant to grow, or if you want both plants to grow you leave it there. If the graft hasn't taken, but the stem is still in good shape, you rewrap it in the moss and continue to wait.

To cross pollinate to try to start a new variant of a plant, you take pollen from one plant with a small paint brush ( like an artists brush) and you put it into the flower of the second plant to fertilize it. If it worked, after the blossom wilts, a seed pod will start to form where the blossom was. You wait until that has matured and ripened, then you collect the seeds from it and plant them to see if they will grow, and see if the plant is different from the parents in any way (Bloom color, number of petals, size, fragrance, etc.)

It's called grafting. I know it's done with trees and roses, but I've never heard of cacti. There is also cross pollination like when pumpkins and watermelon meld. Cool looking, but I wouldn't want to eat it.
Which plants do you want to fuse?

Grafting takes a little know how and I suggest you research it online or find someone locally who can help. Cross pollination is just as it sounds. Pollen crosses from one plant to another either by hand or by pollinating insects. This does not work with all plants, only those that can cross pollinate. Corn has to cross pollinate to produce ears and like I mentioned pumpkins and watermelon can cross pollinate, but you only get something interesting to look at.
