Drive less.
Buy less stuff.

The second suggestion reduces pollution from obtaining resources, energy to manufacture and transport the items, pollutants from manufacturing, eventual landfill space, and so on.

Hate to say it, but in the future, if things keep going at the rate they are now (and by the looks of it, they will), the only thing that will ensure the planet survives is if a large portion of the human population dies.
It really is a case of too little too late, because at this point, most of the population will refuse to conform to the MAJOR changes needed to prevent climatological destruction. The entire world's population will have to live on what they need only, and that's not going to happen, given the materialistic nature of human beings.

In rich countries, we all want cars, a giant patch of land to live on, products that we only have to use once before throwing them away, and appliances to do everything for us.
In poor countries, we pollute heavily because we have neither the financial means nor the education to change anything.

I'm not optimistic.

Dont panic, Carbon Dioxide has no affect on global temperature and dont let the hippies, panic merchants and brainwashed masses tell you otherwise. There is no impending environmental disaster and they are going to look stupid in years to come.

Its kind of arrogant to think we can destroy all life of the planet by driving an SUV, were a pathetic spec on this planet and its typical of people to think we can make changes on such a scale. Up yours Gore.

We should however, reduce particulate matter from factories and power plants and reduce landfil.

Try addressing the AIDS problem especially in Africa where some countries have a 25% infection rate including newborns. A few extra water bottles of litter is nothing compared to that.

Rid ourselves of all governmental control.

Go back to roots level living- no more cars, factories and junk items (mp3 players, mobile phones, satellite tvs).

More love.
