I just turned 15 and have never used a tampon before. I keep trying to put one in but it doesn't go in. I have read the instructions on the package and am using the pearl kind because I know those are better. I am going to an amusement park for an entire day this weekend and I would worry less about leaking if I used a tampon. Please help!!

keep following the instructions on the box, but just relax when u try to put it in bcuz if u dont ull be tense and it wont go up as well.
and the first time u use one u just kinda have to slowly push--kinda hard. itll pinch the first time, but ull get a hang of it.
good luck=]
also make sure u start with the junior size or watever since ur bodies not used to them.

First of all RELAX....It's easiest to insert a tampon if you are sitting... If you are tense it won't go in all the way... Also, what size tampon are you using... I would try a junior absorbancy- for a starter until you know your flow... If you are trying a Super or bigger drop down to a smaller size....

While sitting, spread legs and insert tampon inside vaginal area....Until the large end is all the way inside

Push plunger and it should release the tampon....Don't worry tampons don't get "lost"... Please remember tomorrow to change your tampon every 4-6 hours...Good luck and have fun at the amusement park

I had the same problem when i was younger. Im only 22 now. All i can tell you is relax and try again later..... I eventially got it to go in. You just have to move it around til you get it where your hole opens and jus tpush it in til your fingers touch your skin, then push the long end in and then you jus ttake the aplicator out... Easier said then done i kno. Just relax n keep trying. Also it helps if you are wet down there so mayeb try a little lubrication it will go in easier! Also you can try the playtex slim fits, my 13 yr old sister uses those. Good Luck!

the one way i learned to use a tampon and this may sound extreamly gross but it worked for me.

First finding the vagina opening with my finger and then useing that with the tampon in the same hand and using my finger to guide it to the right spot. Also if you dont relax it wont be comfortable.

three if things are a bit dry down south.....you might try using a little kyjelly to help make it a bit more comfortable.

hope that helps you

The key is to relax, relax, relax. Most problems of insertion are because you are nervous and the muscles tense up. Take your time. Try lifting your leg onto the side of the tub or toilet instead of trying to insert it from a sitting position on the toilet. Take a deep breath and let it all out and consciously relax. You can also try a bit of lubricant (KY jelly) on the tip to help. Good luck!~

remember to only have a tampon in for max of 8 hrs at at time due to the risk of toxic shock syndrome
the best way to put in a tampon is sitting on the toilet- relax- using two hands insert the tip and then advance the plunger upward

okay. maybe you need a smaller size because if it doesn't go in maybe you need a smaller one. It takes some getting used to. I used to practice when I didn't have my period putting one in. It may hurt a little at first but if it continues to hurt pull it out and you put it in wrong. I think that maybe you want to have someone like your mom, or someone you can trust who is a female, and tell her the situation and ask her what you should do.

My guess is if you have never had intercourse before then your Hymen must still be intact. Its a piece of skin that drapes across the vagina and breaks with penetration. It might be a little harder for you to insert your tampon for this reason. Try OB brand in the smaller sizes. It gives your finger control of guiding it deeper into the vaginal area.

Relax. Get the lowest absorbency necessary (lite, regular, super.) I prefer Kotex namebrand. Stand up and place one leg on the toiliet or sit on the toilet with your legs spread. Get a mirror to help you. Make sure you are not tense and insert it by directions on box. Wear a pantiliner too...just in case. Have fun!
