I am 15 years old.I weigh approximatly 6 stone and am 5ft 5; I am only eating one meal a day (which is at 5pm). This month my periods have seemed to stop, eventhough before they stopped they did start to come very late. I was wondering, if they wern't coming because of me not eating. If you think you can help me, please reply. Thank you.

Yes, this has some truth to it. If you get below about 17 percent body fat your period will stop. However, during starvation diets the stress precipitating the actual weight loss can cause you to lose your period... which is what has probably happened in your case. I suggest you go on a healthier diet, if you even need one at all. (I don't know what 6 stone equates to)... don't starve yourself. You can give yourself seizures, heart problems, and become severly malnourished in starvation diets. Plus, it will backfire eventually, because when you try to starve the body its instinct is to pig out... you probably think about food all the time... don't you. So if you manage to lose the weight, because you have gone about it the wrong way you'll eventually gain it back and add on some extra poinds with it. If you want to lose weight, exercise, eat good wholesome foods, and cut back your calories by a few hundred a day... this way your diet won't end up making you fatter and you'll be healthy. And also, how do you expect to concentrate in school with your blood sugar low all the time? And do you do sports? Your body doesn't hold water or vitamins well when you aren't eating so you could pass out or give yourself a heat stroke easily.

Seriously... I'm worried about you. Take care of yourself.

Dont be stupid. i was doing the same thing when i was your age. Thought i was fat etc, now i look back at pictures and i wasnt anything like what i thought i was. now i am happy with my body, but theres no way i can get into my 15 year old jeans. Why do you want to torture yourself. If you are really trying to loose weight, having one meal a day isnt the best thing to do, as it tricks your body into famine mode, and holds on to the fat stores for a rainy day. Eat three meals a day, and try exercising, its a much nicer for yourself. that way you will have regular periods and a great toned body, for the summer.

Eattttttttttttttttttttttttttttt!! you should be enjoying your life, your never going to be 15 again. Also you will feel pretty stupid when your 72 and you have bad bones etc, cause you deliberately malnourished yourself.

I threw up for four years and all that ever did for me was give me yellow teeth. And yes i got very eradic periods. its because your body hasnt the energy to spend on reproduction.

Oh, yea!! And the stress you are putting on your body will also put your liver, kidney, heart and all your other organs under pressure. By not eating my girl you could give yourself a heart attack!! 15 or not!!! Guys like girls with boobs!! Why do you think Posh got implants? Boobs ar made up mainly of fat. Guys do NOT like boney, scrawney girls AT ALL! So stop killing yourself just because you are trying to control SOMETHING in your life. Sweetie, it is just not worth it!!! As you get older, you will learn that when you have a problem, be it bullying, parents getting divorced, abuse even, you have to THINK your way around them. Ask yourself, how can I fix this because it is hurting so bad? Mum and Dad can help you, Granny can help you, your Teacher can help you. These people care about you, so don't keep it to yourself, whatever it is tell someone and see if they can help? Do not, starve yourself to death when you have a brain, use it to help YOU! At six stone or lower your period stops! For your age it would be healthier if you ate three meals a day and not just one. Im 15 and weigh just seven stone im very slim but yet get regular periods because im the correct weight. If you put on a few more pounds you will get you period back.

A low BMI can cause amennhorea (or no period). Are you eating only once a day to lose weight?? If you are, you need to eat closer to 5 times per day and eat smaller meals....you are confusing your body right now into thinking that it needs to store everything that you eat because you're only feeding it once per day. So....GO EAT!

Also, if you've been sexually active, you could be pregnant.

periods are supose 2 be natural u cant stop them until u hit metapos but until then all ur doin is makin ur health bad 4 u at least eat fruit in the morning.they have medicine 4 the cramps if thats y u dnt want 2 have ur periods

Well... you are killing yourself slowly, IMHO.

Alot of other things will stop unless you etstablish a healthier eating regimen.

Your growth will be stunted, your hormonal activity will be affected, your whole body will suffer.

See you doctor and/or nutritionist if you are really serious about losing weight.

NO ONE should have to suffer or hurt their body by starving themselves to lose weight.

The best time to have a substantial meal is in the morning - THAT will keep you going all day.

"Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and supper like a pauper"

But please do not starve yourself the way you are doing.

That could be the problem. If your body doesnt get enough nutrients it will not work properly. You need to eat 3 meals a day! It is necessary for your survival!
