This article written in China shows how wealth can have a negative affect on people. Money controls them.

However, you don't have to be wealthy to hide your insecurity behind material possessions. Many of people buy things to make themselves feel good. Unfortunately, it's only a temporary fix...so they get hooked on it like a drug.

That's why so many Americans are hooked on credit. They keep needing to buy stuff to feel good...even if they lack the means to get it. The only difference is that the wealthy usually don't have to go into debt to buy luxuries.

Once you've reached an income level that allows you to provide basic needs, everything else is just lagniappe and doesn't affect happiness. Numerous studies have been done on this.

Too many people look outward to fill the void...happiness comes from within.

I choose to be wealthy for numerous reasons...none of them include material possessions.

Quite the contrary. Arrogant, in fact. They make interesting object lessons, though!
