I was your Dad and I said " You are absolutely forbidden to get a tatto or any piercings done as long as you live in my house".
Regardless what your mom says.

Here is your chance to talk back. Give it your best shot.

I actually got my first piercing when I was 19 and although my dad freaked out about it he eventually got over it. The difference between my situation and yours is that my dad never made any specific rules stating that I could NOT get a tattoo or piercing. If he would have then there's no way in hell I would have gotten one (at least in a location that he would know about). So your kid may not get any but there's always the chance that they'll get one on the lower or upper back, inner thigh, etc.

Well....I was raised that as long as you live in your parents' house, you follow your parents' rules - and if you talked back, you got knocked into next week. So I guess I'd get over it and save up my $$ so I could move out as soon as I graduated from high school, then go get the tattoo / piercing. Of course, I don't like permanent tattoos and the only thing pierce are my ears - and that was a waste, because I haven't worn earrings much ever since giving birth. My oldest is 24 years old now. We pretty much told her the same thing; she respected our wishes, but the first thing she did when she moved out was go with her boyfriend and they both got their tongues pierced.

OK, do we have the same parents? I can tell you only what happened to me. I had wanted a tattoo since 7th grade since you must be 18, I had some time to discuss this a lot with them (I include mom since my parents always were a team and she would support Dad’s rules as he would hers as well). They never changed their mind. When I turned 18 the issue got a bit more heated. My parents were helping me pay for college, so the deal then became “We’ll stop paying for school if you get one.” My idea was that I wanted the Grateful Dead dancing bears around my ankle with “everybody’s dancing in a ring around the sun” around it as well. So being the defiant yet intelligent person I am. I went and got one dancing bear on my hip (so close to my you-know-what- that I could wear a bikini and no one knew) the day after I turned 18. I am so thankful (14 years later) that I got it and I am thankful that I did not get the original plan. Had my parents been open to it, I would not be as happy as I am today. I since have gotten more. I got one on my toe when in college, it was a pain in the **** to hide it but Tevas covered it up perfectly. They saw it for the first time about a week after they paid my last school bill, I told them I’d had one for 5 years at that point and my father was livid! I know have a HUGE one that covers about half my back, they express their dislike but they love me all the same. I am who I am, I provide for myself and am a great citizen so they have no complaints. But they aren’t gonna ask me to go to a pool party with people who don’t know me already, because of the image I portray. So I guess my best suggestion is that you will have the tattoo for the rest of your life, it is not worth getting now and causing turmoil for your family just wait and get it later. I think you will end up being happier as well since you will have that much more time to solidify your idea of what you want on your body forever. Good luck!

I'd tell you that I'll respect your wishes, but depending on what age I am, I'd probably go out and do it anyway. My Mother told me that I couldn't get any tattoo's or piercings until I turned 18, so on my 18th birthday I got my tongue pierced. It really depends on the individual and their maturity level. Just because I lived under my Mom's roof doesn't mean that I had to look the part. I respect my Mom and most of her rules, but I would have to be me.

Hmmm, it's been decades since I lived at home, so I'd probably say, "Yes, sir." And then I'd go behind your back (if I was so inclined to have tattoo's or piercings), and have them done in places you'd never find out about.

That pretty much sums up the way I did things as a rebellious teenager.

I have 4 and when they turned 18 they got some. Let a kid be a kid plenty of time to make decisions like that when they leave home. That's the problem the kids don't have a full understanding who is running things!

u know...i have a picture of my dad and mine(when i was kid) on my bathroom...my dad shouts a lot, he is bit short-tempered, so when ever we have a qurrel,i feel to pack the bag and get out of home right then...but, when entering at the bathroom i see that picture, where i am on my dad's lap...i feel my all anger goes down..i feel, i irritated hima lot when i was kid-he tolarated my all irritations, now he is unable to cope up witht his trend aso why should i hurt him......

i wont do anything which will gonna hurt him, no matter how much hurt i become....if he really loves me, he will understand my sacrifice and he will allow me...may be it will take time.
