mine does that too...might have something to do with more thorough cooking by passing through the waves in a different direction...im just guessing

There is a dog that insures that the motor always goes the same direction on start up. This is broken. It will not cause any problem. It could last for years that way and cook just fine.

Mine have all gone the same direction. Only difference was when it was in defrost mode, it would turn 90 degrees and pause before turning again.

It alternates the spinning direction of the turntable just so the motor is being operated in both directions. It extends the life of it.
