Why do you think the final line of the poem was repeated?

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
And miles to go before I sleep.

that's enaphora when the first word of repeated lines is repeated. the final line is reapeated to put emphasis on the miles he or she has to go before he sleeps on.

It just emphasizes the line so the reader knows that he has miles to go. By the way, did you get the fact that this is a death poem?

Hay what about:

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have such promises to keep,
Many miles for me to seek.
Many miles to go before I sleep.

Anyway back to the question. I think the writer knows that he has miles to go. And that he/she is going to complete his/her mission before it gets dark or he/she is not going to sleep at all.

Hope this helps

VJ is absolutely right. It is a figure of literature language. It is always used to emphasize the length, power, importance of the action or process.
