it's a part of an integer or a polynomial, that when you multiply it by another number it gives you a whole quantity. example being 2 and 3 are factors of 6.

A factor is a number that can be divided into the given number, without a remainder. For example, 3 is a factor of 15 because 15/3 = 5 (no remainder).
All of the factors of 15 are 1, 3, 5, and 15
The factors of 20 are 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, and 20.
Prime numbers have exactly two factors: 1 and itself. An example is 7. The factors of 7 are 1 and 7.
I hope this helps!

What is so hard about typing "what" instead of "wot"?
Anyway, a factor is a number used in multiplication. Two or more factors multiply together to make a product.
Another definition of factor is a number that divides another number evenly. For example, 7 is a factor of 21 because 21 divided by 7 is 3, which is a whole number.
You can also expand this definition to algebraic expressions. For example, x+1 is a factor of 5(x+1)(y+3).

It depends what context you are looking for, or in stupid language "wot kinda factor fings U wanna no about".
One definition of a factor is a number that divides evenly into another number, eg factors of 12 are 1,2,3,4,6,12
Another definition of a factor is a variable which defines the outcome of another, eg what factors effect the grammatical and spelling abilities of the person who asked the question? I'll let you answer this one yourself.
I guess you learned two lessons today:
1. What a factor is
2. To ask questions properly, changing the "o" in wot to "ha" would have saved you all of this grief, it just wasn't efficient

A fact is a true statement.
An artifact is a true statement about a piece of art.
An artifactor is one who makes true statements about art
A factor is one who makes false statements about art.
I hope this clears up WOT a factor is.
If you are asking WHAT a factor in mathematics is, the other answers are all correct. But you must accept my answer if you are wanting to know WOT a factor is. WOT do you think of that?

"Any of the numbers that can be multiplied together to make another number".
It is easier to understand by example:
The factors of 20 are 1,2,4,5,10 and 20 ...
... because 1x20 =20 , 2x10 = 20, 4x 5 = 20
