After you asking this question 10 min ago I was able to catch and observe this "fly" who now I call Marty and observe him in his glass house. Marty uses a half barrel roll to stand on the lid of his glass house.

The first part of the Immelmann turn would have the fly's feet facing the ceiling, and that's what they do, per high-speed video. When a fly approaches the ceiling, just before it touches the ceiling, it does a back roll, bringing up his feet in its direction of flight towards to the ceiling, so that upon landing, the fly is facing the opposite direction of his original flight.

It can't be an Immelmann turn, as it's feet would be facing the floor.

It COULD be a half loop. Actually that part of a loop that gets it inverted.

I'm not convinced that flies do neat aerobatic manoeuvres.

I guess it's a mixture of manoeuvres
