I'm in the U.S. About $6,000 would thrill me -- half to reconstruct a bathroom and half to use on vacation doing all the things that we never have the extra cash to do (like expensive dinners and helicopter rides, etc.).

Well, seeing as how I'll be of to college come June 2008 (thinking about doing summer school first to get it out of the way), I think $100,000 USD would suit me fine. Pay off tuition from the start so I'm not drowning in debt from the get-go, then use the rest to save and live off of (combined with my $7.25/hr part-time job at CVS, I'm going to need every last penny I can get).
*edit*
God! People! Just 'cause you're living in the US doesn't mean you have to be smart @sses and talk about weight! I'm in America, and I'm sure most of y'all know that she's talking about money--you know, the British pound?! Get off your high horse and just answer the question! Goodness! ^_^

About 1/2 a million would clear us of everything including the car. It would give us the freedom to perhaps go on holiday, have an occasional meal out but nothing more.

I first thought of this as a weighty question....a bad pun...ohhhh!
(My first impression before clicking was to loose about 30 pounds....)
Financially speaking....being American....I would have to say at today's standards, about 100,000 a month in US Dollars would let me cover my bills, travel, be comfortable and give to the poor.

Well if a mortgage is considered a debt, about $200,000 Canadian. That's what's left to be paid off.
Otherwise I'm pretty much up to date on all my bills.

According to Michael Winner, the film producer, you need to be able to spend £3,000,000 a year to be happy in the lifestyle that he enjoys.
