Most fish can be trained to allow you to touch them, especially at feeding time. It's a really bad idea though as even gentle rubbing will remove the fishes protective slime coat.

Ive had my fish for almost two years now. They swim towards my hand when ever i put it in the tank. When i do a complete water change and my fish are in a bowl i now and again will hold each one gently so i can check for any problems on their bodies. The fish are fine with this and they lay still and calm while i quickly check them over. Three of the nine that i have will actually swim into the palm of my hand and stay there as if wanting me to hold them. I dont hold them out of the water. I do occassionally remove them from the tank to the bowl by hand. They seem to be less stressed this way and its as if they feel more safe in my hand than in a net. When i have used the net they flip about and it always worried me they will hurt themselves.

Most of my fish run for there dear lives like your goldfish but I have 1 very mellow and young Royal Farlowella that will not necissarily look for attention from me, but is not really afraid of anything. I can scoop him up in my hand and move him and he won't care, I can practically put a rock on top of him when cleaning the tank and he won't care (I do NOT do this but its just a reference). He mostly hangs out on a peice of driftwood in the center of the tank which I remove from the tank when I clean due to its size. He is camoflauge with the wood so I need to inspect it very carefully to make sure he isn't on the wood when I remove it. One time I held the wood out of the water for 2+ minutes inspecting it and could not find him on it, I brushed all the excess gravel off the base and JUST before I stopped holding it over the tank he dropped off it into the water and swam to the other peice of wood in the tank as if nothing happened!

I also had a Leopard Puffer that liked nipping my hand when I cleaned the tank LOL!!!

When my Arowana was sick and dying from a parasite that got in the water, he was really weak and not very timid towards anything. Being as sick as he was and felt so bad for him, all I could do was just let the medication try to save him. When he came near the glass and just kinda wallowed there, he's like me touch him and not dart away. Given how skittish and jumpy an Arowana is, I knew he was in really bad shape for him to let me touch him. Thats the only time I've been able to touch any of my fish. The Datnoid Tiger barb was thinking about it I think. I tried to slowly lower some food down to him, but he just kept backing away. Maybe I'll get lucky one of these days.

Never tried it. Although the fish was very cute! Most of my fish swim away from me. All but my adult Betta's. They beg for food each time I go over regardless if I'm cleaning the tank or just checking on them. They aren't scared a bit. I'm afraid I will hurt them if I rub them like that. Thanks for sharing the awesome video!

Do Not touch the fish. You could kill it!
