In probably the most Left leaning state in the union, MA refused to allow the citizens of the state to vote (Democracy) on the issue of whether to allow Gay marriage.
What is Democracy if NOT the people voting on issues of importance.
Don't you think it is Hypocritical for Democrats to vote against allowing the people to vote on any subject?

Henry: If you had followed the link I provided you would get the answer to most of your questions. Hypocrites everyone of them.
The people of MA want to amend their Constitution, but the Legislature voted that they couldn't. The nanny state knows what is good for them.
The other fellow that was making up history about the US voting for slavery, ain't happened. Much the same way that you make up stuff about George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, you can't say things happened that didn't. It is too easy to check.
The person who said that LGBT whatever want equal rights is full of B.S. EVERYONE in the USA has the same right to marry a person of the opposite sex that wants to do so. No, you can't marry your horse, your dog, or your sister. What these people want is superior rights and the Left wants to give it to them, for no other reason than to destroy the fabric of the USA. If they can cause enough internal strife, then they can take control much like Hugo Chavez in Venezuela.

It's not just hypocritical , it's outlandishly wrong and likely illegal .
Recently I've had to talk with potential customers in MA . And what an eye-opener this has been . Rarely does a single statement go by without them questioning it's validity or (ir)rationally thinking that there simply must be a conspiracy behind that statement . And we're not talking politics , we're talking business . Prior to this , I had no idea how crazy they were . I do talk with clients and potential clients from all over the country . Yet there's nothing that compares to this type of mental disease .

The coup has already begun . Prepare lest ye be consumed .

Do you mean socialist, or are you really asking about communist... There is, after all, quit the difference, & it seems.... Over the years, it can, & has changed... That, & it depends on who's interpretation of socialism, or communism, you wish to take as gospel... Socialism, is anything & everything paid for, with tax payers money... From paying our congressmen, senators, President, supreme court justices, military, FBI,CIA, AFT, social security, Medicare, Medicaid, subsidy to big oil, & all other corporations... Hitler was a fascist, as was Saddam Hussein, & his Republican Guard... Generally the fascist, are into ethnic cleansing... Killing the groups of people, they disagree with... More of a hate group, not unlike the KKK, or other groups like that, that are now, radical right... Funny actually, a lot of those very groups, use to be left... Until the 60's... There was a strange evolution, in the 60's... LBJ, started having sympathy, for the blacks, in America... Something that was pretty much unheard of, until the 60's... Prier to the 60's, the Democrats, were pretty much in line, with the old southern slave owners... I'm sure you remember the Democrat Governor of Alabama, George Wallace, & what a racist, he was..... During the 60's, the old southern Democrats, started moving over to the open arms, of the Republican party... That was strange, in its self... Being the party of Lincoln... In the 80's, the Republican party moved yet closer, to Fascism, or a better word, corporate fascism... To a point were the wealthiest Americans, & corporations, had, or have, all the political power... Screaming socialism, is a bad word... Unless they need a bail out... Then, its to big to fail, & would wreck the economy... As strang as thing have been, look for them to become stranger still, in years to come...

It is pathetic that the Legislature of a state would disallow the Citizens of said state to have the opportunity to vote on this, or any issue because the vote would go against their preference, then as the hypocrites that they are, call it a "victory for the people of the state." Let us Pray that "the people of the state" vote these cowards out of office in the next election !

g. You are right, we DO live in a Republic. Which means THE STATE, not the FEDS> should decide this. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE ARE SUPPOSED TO VOTE ON THINGS THAT AFFECT THEIR STATE. You contradicted your own argument. Perhaps repeating High School History/Government will help you...
Let Mass. do what they want. Maybe one day they can start their own country and take New York with them. They can Tax eachother silly until everyone quits working altogether. Then they can have the Welfare state they have always dreamed of.....

So, let me get this straight,,,,you are in favor of the existing law that allows same sex couples to marry. Does Massacheusetts have a referendum law where people sign petitions to put something on the ballot whether the legislature likes it or not? Do you know how many in the legislature actually voted for or gainst and what party the are affiliated with or are you making assumptions?

Perhaps the issue is considered settled. Sometimes people keep dragging an issue out hundreds or thousands of times until they wear down their opponents who eventually leave office or who vote for the measure so another issue can be discussed. Did you ever think of that being the case? No, I didn't think so. I have a feeling the whole issue is not as simple as you are making it. You are probably a neocon or conservative and therefore see the world only in black and white, thus you wouldn't understand anything even slightly complicated. But for now we will chalk one up for your side. You need all the marks you can get since you have been losing more than gaining lately.

Given the recent history about Democracy and the way the Gang Of Pirates have manipulated every last thing your question is is worse than Orwellian.

If you don't like gay marriage, don't have one. That there are many religions that do not have a problem with gays, means that they have the right to express their religion in spite of your beliefs.

If that is not your religion you have the right to go join a more bigoted church, and not have gay marriages there.

Voting on who should or should not have human rights, is not open for debate, the Constitution has long settled the matter, even if some are only now realizing it.

As to being in favor of Democracy, some Democrats were guilty of being against it 50 years ago, but those folk became Repubulickans but now that is strictly a Gang Of Pirates platform, the lists of their actions too pervert honest elections is a very long one and only now being brought to light by congressional inquiry into the AG scandal (so called).

The Web however has Volumes of info on the many ways they have done that far too many to list here , so read the links and weep for America Lost.

The reason they won't let them vote is that every state that has voted on gay marriage has voted against it. The loony left does not want any laws to get in the way of their perversions.

Geez - this country is going to h*ll in a handbasket. We've got to wake up and stop this trainwreck before it happens people. Encourage all your republican friends to get out and vote. If not, all that's left are the brainwashed libs who WILL vote because they do/say/think whatever their party tells them.

let the nation vote on the Iraq war... and Mass. can vote on Gay Marriage...

how about that?

or do Republicans also hate democracy?

the simple fact of the matter is... we live in a republic... and we elect people to do what we think is best...

granted, I think that often means doing what the people want.... but as we can clearly see, that sometimes doesn't happen...

no, because citizens should all be protected.
do you remember when we let citizens vote for or against slavery in the 1800s?
tell all the descendants of slavery that its okay because that's how some states voted.
same goes for civil rights....
we also voted for women having rights- how many times did we have to vote to get it right?

LGBTQ citizens are a minority they won't be able to have rights and equality if people get to decide. they will have rights when law makers and the judicial system upholds the constitution protecting all citizens rights.
