to women: have you taken the birth control shot? if so, which one and do you like it? thanks!?

I'm thinking of taking it, but first i would like some feedback on what women think about it! has there been major side affects? i know all women will experience different things but i would like to hear what many of you think! thanks!

I personally LOVED the shot, though you will find probably equal numbers of people who despised it.

I got my first one while I had my period, and within 12 hours, my period stopped completely (one of the 25% that do have this benefit). I then would only get a period about every 15 months or so.
I never gained any weight, never had mood swings, cravings, irritability, acne, PMS, and of course no cramps (no period = no cramping!).

After 5 years and the fact that I was nearly 40, I decided to go back on the pill, because it CAN deplete your body of calcium, so you should definitely take a supplement.

Avoid it like the PLAGUE!!!

My friend and I both took it and it screwed us both up royaly!

She ended up bleeding for weeks at a time when she was "done" with it, and had to go on BC pills to get regular (along with severe pain during the weeks of bleeding)

I was spotting all the time (well every couple days) while it was in my system, and then when it was out, I would still spot lots, and I would not bleed forever, then bleed for a week and a half... just really irregular. I also ended up on BC pills to get normal again.

Plus if it failed (there is ALWAYS a failure rate) then it would just be in there while your baby was at its most fragile!! You can't just stop taking it!

Please do not take the depo provera shot. The side affects are nasty and there are so many issues with this shot I would never EVER recommend this to anyone.

There are class action lawsuits against Pfizer for what the depo shot does to women's bodies. I myself was on it for four years and the side affects were horrible.

I hated it. It made me really bitchy! I was in a bad moon 24/7. Now i'm on the pill... i've been a sweet little angel ever since i quit the shot. :) My period got all out of whack too...
