I just got back from the doctors my PT there was negative too but she wanted me to wait another two weeks..To allow my body to get preg and to stay abstenant. Is it true that you have to wait that long to allow your body to do what it is doing and not have sex.... She also prescribed me pre-natal pills too... Advice, is being abstanent for 2 weeks really going to help determine if you are preg?

I dont think so but if your dr says no sex than that means no sex. Waiting could have an effect on the test. i took one every week for 6 mths all neg. till the 6th mth of preg. and than finally positive. its all in the surge. A blood test can determine if you are or not. More reliable than the test stick. good luck.

Sometimes it takes a bit for the hormone level to rise enough to show up on a test. Waiting another 2 weeks should get the levels up if you are pregnant. I don't know about the abstinence part but if you are trying and this is what the doctor said you should follow your doctor's advice. Call her and ask why if you can't wait. As for the pre-natal vitamins they will help your body become prepared for pregnancy. It is always good to start pre-natal vitamins while you are pregnant...that way once you get pregnant your body will be prepared. The 1st trimester is extremely important in the basic development of the fetus and you need all the vitamins and minerals contained in the vitamin. They'll help your nails and hair grow too so those are added bonuses. Go get 'em.

Good luck.

Not having sex is NOT going to help your body figure out if it's pregnant. But tests don't always work. I was 2 months pregnant, and I took a test and it was negative. So your body might just be out of wack. Give it more time, then take another test, but the no sex thing...won't do anything.

I would guess that the dr is planning to give you Provera or Prometrium at your visit in 2 weeks and she wants to make sure that you really aren't pregnant. It can take 2 weeks after having sex for a urine test to be accurate.
