Remove all items from the refrigerator. Take out any removable parts of the refrigerator and clean them separately.
2
Step Two
Mix together 2 tbsp. baking soda with a quart of warm water. Wipe down the inside surfaces of the refrigerator with this solution.
3
Step Three
Try a solution of 1 c. vinegar and 1 gallon of water, if the odor remains. Make sure to rinse and dry all surfaces before trying this solution.
4
Step Four
Mix 1/2 c. chlorine bleach with 1 gallon of water and apply to all surfaces, if the odor persists. Once again, rinse and dry all surfaces before applying this solution.
5
Step Five
Leave the door open and allow the refrigerator to air out.
Tips & Warnings
Don't mix solutions; use them one at a time, rinsing and drying all surfaces between applications.
If you can turn off the refrigerator or place it on a low setting, try leaving a bowl of cat litter or activated charcoal briquettes inside to absorb odors.
Keep an open package of baking soda or coffee grounds in the refrigerator for long-term odor removal.
To prevent new odors, remember to throw away food when it spoils.
If the odor is in the refrigerator insulation, there is nothing you can do to absorb it. The insulation may have to be replaced.

They're the same thing. Both are forms of sodium bicarbonate. A box of baking soda/powder in the back of the fridge solves the problem.

"Arm and Hammer Baking Soda". But all fridges smell if they haven't been cleaned properly! Empty fridge, and wipe/wash out completely, with mild solution of bleach and water, being careful not to mix any other chemicals. Make sure all water is sponged up. Dry with paper towels. This is true for freezers, which need to be completely defrosted before washing out. Also, pay attention to rubber seals around door, and look for mold and mildew, if so, you need a new seal.

In order not to have a smelly fridge, the first thing is to keep fish & meat in plastic bags after U have cleaned it & store it in plastic containers. Make sure U wipe clean the drips off the bags before U store it in containers.
This way the smell is confined in the boxes & to top it all forget the baking soda ,,,,,,use CHARCOAL,,,,,BAMBOO CHARCOAL (I sell this & this is teh best thing ever to own for ur fridge, shoes to stuff a bag of this BAMBOO CHARCOAL (specially burnt for days in a kiln, & packed for the world market) .
BAMBOO CHARCOAL will remove any bad odours & I have pillows too for a good theraphy for ur head & sleep. This has been used for decades & it is very good too to remove the dam[ness in a room ,,,,the large "pillows" will do the job for the room to absorb the moisture & at the same time absorb the foul smells in the room.
