i have the implant and have done for a year now, not gained any weight nor had any porblems. Has made periods very light as well which is a bonus. My step mum and also a friend i used to know both had the injection and both had an increase in their weight. Also the implant can be removed when you decide you want to get pregnant whereas the injection you have to wait for it to run out. Also i think the injection has to be done morte regularly whereas the implant lasts 3/5 years depending on which one you have so it can be put in and forgot about.

Hiya hun,

I'm just about to come off the injection and I've put on a lot of weight I can't shift. But I loved not having periods, it is important that you go every 12 weeks or 8 depending on the injection but they will tell you. Whereas, the implant is in an forgotten about.
Maybe you could go on NHS direct and research each one, or talk to the nurse beforehand at the clinic.

Not everyone reacts the same.
Good luck

I have had both the injection and the implant,
they are both very good
With the implant you will have a little more bleeding than when on the injection.
The best thing about the implant is that it lasts for 3 years so you never have to worry, the injection lasts for 3 months.
i never had weight gain with both, with both of them i had stomach cramps for the first couple weeks, but this is normal as the body is becoming familiar with the product
The best one for me personally is the implant as it lasts for 3 years, means i don't have to go to the doctors so much

the injection tends to increase your appetite so you have to be careful not to put weight on, the implant does not. Side effects are the usual some people experience irregular bleeding, sore nipples, occasional headaches etc etc, I have tried both and not had any side effects so i think it depends on the individual, also i wouldn't recommend the injection if you are on the very young side as it can affect your bone mass, and cause problems later on in life, the implant is a slower release of hormones so tends to be slightly 'better' hormone wise.

I put on loads of weight with the depo, the injection. The doctor wouldn't give me the implant because it made loads of women bleed 18 days out of 28, so I opted for the IUS the coil with the hormones which was fine, lasts five years and it stops your periods so you can get on with your life.

Sorry, bad news from me. I put on a stone in 6 months with the implant. I also think it made me depressed and I bled two weeks out of 4. I've just had it taken out and it was quite painful. But it's different for everyone.

Run away from the depo shot... you get a LOT of weight gain as well as other nasty side affects from taking this shot. There are also class action lawsuits against Pfizer because of how this shot treats women.

I have no experience with the implant though.

i myself consider you to a component. the element that could complication me is that categorical parents does not rigidity how significant condoms are so they does not use them as plenty as a results of fact they have the implant. this might maybe bring about an boost in STDs. besides the shown fact that, on an entire i think of so. To strive against no longer getting STDs, maybe childrens might desire to fulfill somebody whose existence has been laid low with an STD. I did, made me think of two times I tell ya. It quite hit domicile that it could ensue to every physique, it is not in simple terms what's on the information. this might actually be prepared on the college. The impant is enormously efficient, extra infective than sterilization & i be attentive to all my acquaintances have not had a topic. i think of it is going to no longer be forced upon them, i think of this is going to be extra of an decide out element. i myself be attentive to my parents & some others believe that this is going to be a decide out element. stable question btw :) EDIT: education isn't the respond, i develop into fortunate and had alot of education on it, so did a number of my acquaintances. yet alot of them have young infants, they have stated this is right down to laziness on their area with birth control!! What an attractive element "why did you have me mummy?", "oh, I forgot to apply a condom".. None of my acquaintances young infants have been planned, it develop into all as a results of forgetting to take their pill or no longer employing a condom & no longer bothering to get the morning after pill as they concept that they had be ok. i do no longer believe this is going to be forced & maybe no longer as early as 13, we could see what effects it does have on boost yet from 14/15 this is going to be an determination! childrens are going to have unprotected intercourse, in simple terms as adults do. it don't have a great result i do no longer think of on the kind of human beings no longer employing condoms. human beings, no longer basically childrens, might desire to be sure the effects of no longer employing a condom and what it may bring about. i develop into fortunate adequate to be sure that (as terrible as this is), so might desire to others as a results of fact i'm able to allow you be attentive to it quite did make me think of.
