My girlfriend is occasionally late with taking her birth control pill, she doesn't miss it, but she may be a few hours late with taking it. And this doesn't even happen often. I just want to know at what point of being late with taking the pill are we in the "danger zone"?

a few hours really isnt a big deal... if she misses a day, she should take 2 the next day, if she misses 2 she should take 3 the next day, but if she misses three she should really just start over lol (and if she misses a pill, you should use condoms to be safe) she should try to take them at the same time every day, of course, but being off by a few hours really shouldnt lower the effectiveness very much

Actually, birth control is not 100% effective, whether she misses a dose or not. The paperwork that comes with the pills will tell you the same. I know several people who got pregnant and were using birth control.

Are they combined pills or progestin only pills? With combined pills it is not a big deal, but with the progestin only pills it can be a problem, although I don't know the exact time, but she should set an alarm to remember it.

I think you have to be more than a day late on combined pills for it to matter. I skipped a few of mine a month, sometimes on purpose, sometimes on accident, but I never got knocked up!

The closest you get to the same time each day the better, especially if you are using it to help protect against pregnancy. The further away you get from the same time lessens its effectiveness.
