My friend just got a 4-wheeler and it says 250 on it...I'm just wondering if it's the cc's or if it means something else. if the cc's on a 4-wheeler are a little more than the cc's on a dirt bike does that mean that the 4-wheeler will go faster?

The 250 means CC's. just because it is on a 4 wheel doesnt mean any thing about speed, it all depends on 2 strok or 4 stroke and what type of gearing. if it is a 2 stroke then it will be quite fast, but a 4 stroke will be equivilent to a 2 stroke 125cc. the only difference between a 4 stroke and 2 stroke then is the torque. 4 strokes have massive amounts of torque and therefore are better at climbing and what not. also, if the gearing on a dirt bike is for MX racing then it will kick the crap out of a quad, one because is is lighter and also most quads arent for racing. most of them are for just trail riding. Kind of like an enduro for street and trails, it will be slower than a Racing dirt bike because of the gearing. But anyway, quads are slower most of the time, but can have loads more torque. In a straight away, i doubt you can beat a dirt bike, let alone in the trails, forget about it.

250 refers to "cc" or cubic centimeters and is the displacement of the engine. Actually, a dirt bike with a 250cc engine will go faster than any 4 wheeler with the same 250cc engine, since the 4 wheeler weighs a bunch more.

IT does mean Cubic Centimeters (cc) and no a dirt bike will go faster, at least stock ones will. Dirt bikes have a different gearing which makes them faster. You can change the sprockets on 4 wheelers and dirt bikes. That will change the speed .

It's the approximate engine displacement in cubic centimeters. A 4-wheeler with the same engine displacement as a dirtbike will probably be slower than the dirt bike, because the 4-wheeler will be heavier.

if the engine on the four wheeler is a two stroke it is measured in cubic centimeters or cc's the number 250 stands for how many cc's makes up the block of the motor.this does not mean that it is faster yet it has more horse power. if it is a four stroke motor it would be measured in cubic inches this is because four strokes a generally bigger in size.

it's just the make of the truck. A f-150 can't hold as much as a 250 and so on. The 250's are great because there the 3/4 ton. Its not the cc's it's just the truck itself. Trucks have cc's in the 300 to 500 range.

it is for cc`s and the reason there are more cc`s on a four wheeler is because it takes more to make them move they are alot heavier that a motorcycle

CCs, and it depends on how it is geared. 4 wheelers are heavier, too.
