Legally, only if you are also on the account. For example, your husband/wife got a job in another state and just added you onto the account.
If a business check, you must be authorized to sign on the account and your signature card is on file with the bank with an officer's or other designee's signature from that company.
Otherwise it is forgery and no one should cash it or take it for a deposit.

Checks are invalid until signed and completed in full. If you forge someone's signature, you're guilty of fraud. Banks have ways to easily determine whether or not a check is legitimate, and the account holder is notified of any variances.

Nope.
The account number printed in magnetic ink will still be their account #, not yours. You'd be guilty of a crime, as the money would come out of their account still.
