Yes, they can take you to court and get a judgement against you. Once the judgement is granted they can take you to court again and require you to disclose all your assets, bank accounts, employer, etc. They can garnish your checking account, your wages and seize assets. They don't have to make threats, although you might perceive them as such, they just have to follow the law. It's perfectly legal. If you make arrangements to make payments they are usually pretty patient. I know all of this because it happened to me.

These are not threats. They are explaining the facts about the different means they can get the money you owe them.

They can sue you. They can press fraud charges. They can garish your wages. They can simply remove the money from bank accounts. They can place a lien on your property. There are likely a few that are not coming to mind.

They can't threaten to break your legs, kill your dog, or anything like that. But, "threatening" to stand up for their rights is not a threat and certainly not illegal.

Where's the threat? They are stating a fact - and once they have a judgment against you they can proceed with garnishment and liens on your accounts and property.

No threat - just facts - pay your bills or get taken to court.

Telling you that they will take you to small claims court is not considered 'threatening you'. They're telling you the truth. You need to check those TV commercials and ask those folks a definition of 'threaten'.

Pay your bills. If you are sued and they win, they can take your part of your paycheck and anything else that they can find. The physician treated you, why not pay and stop the drama. Quit being a deadbeat.

Don't plan on ever borrowing money from a bank if you have medical collections on your credit report.

How is that a threat? It's a fact.
