Yes. My employer offers a match on my 401 k so I would be foolish not to take advantage of free money like that. Plus I have some other sticks and funds--I hope to be able to retire and not worry about money.

You responded your questions. Technically specific, you could withdraw taxfree/penaltyfree from Roth. yet then that is going to wreck you lots. in no way ever touch your nest egg. One dollar taken out of that investment could be nicely worth 4 money for the period of your retirement. on the topic of the place you may placed your destiny fee reductions. i could say that considering which you have 5000 in Roth and are in many cases putting in 401k, initiate putting your fee reductions for following couple of months in a CD or money Maket for emergency. as quickly as you have amassed 3-6 months of costs in that emergency fund, stop there and path all destiny fee reductions to Roth. yet whilst attainable do no longer unfastened the possibility to place 8000 in Roth for 2006. That hurts in a while. I slipped my 2002 IRA contribution and am nevertheless regreting it. i can't bypass back and placed it there now ! each and every of the final !

Yes, I did. Was able to retire early by selling my home in the Washington D.C. area and moving to a smaller town in South Carolina.

No kidding... I calculated if I'd have started putting 150.00/month away when i was 18 and I'd have almost 20grand saved.
I have a job with a 401K now, and I add extra to it each month.
