When the heath inspector visits my restaurant. They are quite tame and are only allowed to run about in the kitchen , not the dining area. We keep them as we heard that pet rats keep wild ones away as they don't want to come into an area where other rats live. We don't want to end up like this place.

I think you are having a bit of fun but i must say as much as i love rats i've had rats as pets myself it's not such a good idea to have them in a restaurant sorry they are vermin and they do carry diseases in their urine so best take them home before you are closed down : )

Rats of any kind are not supposed to be anywhere in a dining area. As a owner you should be aware of that. But since you make a valid point about them keeping wild mice and rats out then just put them away when the inspector is there. Otherwise you might get shut down. Just curious, where are you located??

If I knew that you had Live Rats in your Restaurant, I would turn and leave. Live animals DO NOT need to be at any Restaurant where Food is Served to People !

Tame or Not. Whats the difference whether they run in the kitchen area or the dining room. The Kitchen is where the FOOD is Prepared !!!! ! You Big Dummy ! Do you really want Rat Droppings on your pans, bowls ..... ICK !

How Gross ! To me, you would be no different then this place you listed.

It's funny that your landlord would let you have a bird, but not rats! Birds are much louder and more messy than rats are (not that I don't like birds, I do.. just.. they're loud! And messy! ;P) It's certainly possible that you won't get caught. How often does your landlord drop by, if ever? Although the thing is.. if you ARE caught, which is possible, what will you do with the rats? You need to have a plan in case that happens to provide a good home to the rats BEFORE you get them.

I sure hope you are joking.

Rats and mice leave a urine scent trail EVERYWHERE they go.

I love the little critters and have had many a pet rat, but I would definately NOT eat at a restaurant that had them anywhere on the premises.

definately hide them! the inspector might have a cow. keep them in your house tho, you don't want to end up like some of the chinese restraunts! i hope you don't cook and serve cats and dogs! don't get me wrong, chinese is my favorite food, but i really don't feel like going home and finding out my dog is missing. good luck! hope you pass!

... You should NOT have any rodent running about in a food preparation area. You should not hide them, you should leave them at home.

Btw, which restaurant is this...?

whoa, i never heard of that before.
i think you could put them away for the mean time when the inspectors are there, then maybe let them crawl around again when they leave?
i mean, it won't be too long.
