I work security at a very small office building. I was watching on camera when I spotted a man laying outside on a picnic bench stripped down to a very flimsy pair of shorts. At first I thought that it was a homeless person that had wondered onto our property but upon further inspection I noticed that it was an employee. I was shocked. I thought that I was back at work, not on the beach. Some of the employees walking past me saw him on camera as well and one even went outside to scold him. My question is was this innapropriate behavior or if you are on your lunch break should be allowed to do whatever you want?? Input please!

This is very inappropriate behavior - lunch time or not - he was still on company grounds. If he wanted to sunbathe - go to the local park or better yet - to a tanning booth!!

You should be able to enjoy your lunch break but not like that on company property. If he wanted to take off his shirt and wear his "daisy dukes", then he should have took a stroll somewhere else or got in his car and left. People these days just don't think. They think you should be free to do anything you please no matter where you are and no matter what other people think about it. This is the "hoodrat mentality".

This is not the same as "live and let live". This is like saying: "I don't care what the policies are or who I disrespect, I'll do what I want."

My husband runs during his lunch break and wears very small running shorts (he is a competitive runner with a fantastic body..anyway). I think whatever you do at lunch is your own business. He works at a very professional business office and walks around after he runs in running shorts and running shoes. I think you are over reacting.

its his lunch break, he can do whatever he please, heck he can even go to a strip club, but stripping down to pretty much underwear and chilling out on work property is still a representation of the company and its completely inappropriate. you shoudl alert his supervisors and let them ave a talk with him.

He was just relaxing on his lunch break. That's his time, if he wants to lay out and get some sun that's his business. If he was nude that would be different!

I think that kind of behavior is NOT safe for the workplace. What was he doing? Sunbathing? That's a little bit weird! Save that for your backyard, buddy!

This is incredibly inappropriate and from where I'm sitting he needs to be reprimanded and/or terminated. Behavior like this should not be tolerated at work.

It is inappropriate behaviour if you or anyone else think it to be odd. Recommend a quiet word and if he continues discuss with line manager.

Differet strokes for different folks. Being on the employer's property, that is a little tacky. When you are off the clock, which lunchtime for most is, you can do as you please.
