I have been cleaning out my closet and I have several prom dresses that I would like to sell. They are only a couple years old and all of them are in excellent shape and most of them are fully beaded. (They were only worn once) Should I sell them on ebay? Or do you know of any other options? Also how much should I sell them for. Thanks in advance!

You have lots of options. Look for consignment stores in your area, or second hand shops that buy outright. Or you can go with Ebay.

I'm not sure where your located, but if your prom dresses are very nice, you might want to look into some second hand stores such as Cillies or something like that. If you are going to sell them on ebay or any other place, I would suggest to put them on sale about a month before most proms start, this way you will be offered more money because people are in bigger need of the dress.

I know everyone will say craigslist or Ebay, but have you considered doing it locally? Look up you local consignment shops on Yahoo local or in your phone book. A lot of girls look for their dresses in places like those now days. The norm is that they usually take 10% of what ever the dress sells for. I would wait to put them in until late August or early Septemner though, thats when all the girls sre looking for their dresses, and if you do it now and it doesn't sell they will mark it down in the consignment shop and you won't get as much for it. I sell a lot of my kids cloths in consignment shops and actually amke quite a bit of money back on their gently used items.

Ebay is a good way..just set the opening bid at price you can live with if it doesnt get higher. Local "penny" papers, craigslist.com, at a consignment shop, or the one I like best...if you are not hard-up for the (small ) amount you would probably get for a used dress...donate it to an inner-city school to give to a girl who could not afford a nice dress for the prom. Or, if you know someone less-fortunate who would not otherwise be able to afford to go to the prom...unless you were to give them your dress.

That way, the dress is out of your closet...you feel great about someone else being able to go to the prom who would not have unless you gave them a dress. Then...they can pay the favor forward.

Try selling them on ebay..I know a bunch of girls that have to buy their own prom dresses, and search for them on ebay.

You could sell them on ebay or to a second hand store however I think you will end up getting more money if you list it on ebay.
