I would suggest the frozen one's that com packaged in small cubes. I use a little cup to scoop up some tank water, pop a frozen cube in the cup ( you usually never have to touch it) and allow it to thaw. Then pour them in your tank. I promise there will be no left overs with clown loaches in the tank lol they love them and will eat every last bit.

The clown loach is a bottom feeder. If you give them flake food, they usually wil have to wait until it sinks to the bottom for them to eat it. They do good with sinking shrimp pellets. But in both types, give them a little at a time so that it doesn't pollute the water. They also like a piece of cucumber. Take a whole cucumber, slice it down the middle, long wise, and with a spoon take out the seeds. Cut about a 3 inch portion of the long cucumber and get a small rock from outside and rubberband the rock to the outside of the cucumber, creating a weight. Place it carefully in the water, as to not break the glass. In a short while the Loaches will begin eating the cucumber. This lasts a good long time! Hope this helps! steve

It really depends on the number of loaches, and other bottom feeders. In a 50 gallon with a couple of loach, and no other competition for missed food I wouldn't bother. In a tank with more competition or smaller tank. I'd throw in a couple of catfish sinking pellets (generally shrimp based) every 2-3 days. Maybe once a week blanched/light boiled pea, or thin vegetable slice. (zucchini works well.) They are omnivores leaning more to meaty foods. Obvious if you are keeping them with pleco, cory cats, and the like you may need a bit more. (Pleco are omnivores and love shrimp pellets nearly as much as veggies.)

I feed my horde of clown loaches sinking catfish pellets and tubifex cubes weighted down. One cube is quickly devoured by the 9 loaches.

If you by chance have snails in your tank, the loaches will have a smorgesboard *sp?* on the snails. They love em!
