In general:
Calculate the change in X and the change in Y
Square each and add them
Take the square root

However, this problem has no change in Y, so the answer is easy: Just take the absolute value of the change in X. Note that if you do it the long way you get the same answer

Use dist. formula


Distance = sqrt[ (x2-x1)^2 + ( y2-y1)^2 )
= sqrt[ ( 9-6)^2 + (5-5)^2 ]
= sqrt [ 3^2 + 0 ]
=sqrt[ 9]
=3
