I have a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T i have already replaced the transmission, and there is still a problem, when i accelerate into higher RPMs it tends to slip or tug back and doesnt go smooth what so ever i can watch my RPM needle drop and go back up many times when i am accelerating. Sometimes also when i put it in drive or reverse it jerks me into it, i thought it was the transmission but i got it replaced? maybe its bad.

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak there is a valve on the tranny that detects the amount of vacuum from the engine and it will shift accordingly. If there is a leak then the transmission would have no idea when to shift.

first off, a torque converter will/can not cause a slip! first off, make sure that you have no leaks, as low fluid will cause a slip bec ause there is not enough pressure in the trans. there is no vaccuum on your particular transmission either, as it is electronic. if the fluid is fine, and you have no check engine light on, then i would suggest that you take it back to the mechanic that fixed it, he may have nicked a sealing ring on the intermediate drum, or if you payed very little, you have recieved chinese parts with no updates or electronics such as the epc solenoid. also, with a cheap price, the garage may have only replaced the 1 or 2 clutches that were bad to begin with, and you didnt get a correct overhaul. good luck, and remember, you can always take it to another garage for their opinion prior to taking it back to the garage that you paid. knowledge is everything.

I'm assuming it's an automatic. When the tranny was replaced , was the torque converter also replaced? The torque converter is like a pressure plate and fly wheel for manuals but autos have the torque converter and flex plate. When they go bad, acceleration can be sluggish.

Take the opportunity to also to check the levels of your tranny fluid on the dipstick.
