Can a relationship last and be successful if you don't have much in common?

Like they say, opposites attract but they don’t usually last.

That depends.

My partner and I have a few things in common, but most of our interests are different. We can appreciate our differences. If we had too much in common I think our relationship would become stagnant and boring.

We've been together for over ten years...so far we're just fine.

I don't believe so. The relationships I've had where we didn't have anything in common didn't work out. But the relationship I am in now is awesome! We have so much in common (including being transgendered - we joke that if you could just switch bodies everything would be peachy) we are almost like the same person. He is my soul mate!

Yes. That gives you a chance to open up to new experiences and things that you may not have ever tried on your own; and vice verse. It can be a fun relationship, so don't focus so much on what you don't have in common and focus on the new things you can teach each other.

Yes, my boyfriend and I are opposites to a high degree and we are working on our 3rd year together!
