Avoid any that are not pasteurized. Also soft cheeses like feta and brie. Also no blue cheeses. Basically if you can easily cut it with a butter knife then you should avoid it. I adore cheese and would love to have some brie but baby is worth waiting for it. Not to mention that icy cold beer I've been craving for the past few weeks and I don't even care for it! October can't get here soon enough LOL

I understood that as long as the cheese was pastuerized you would be just fine. In the pastuerization process a bacteria called listeria is killed off. This bacteria is responsible for most cases of food poisoning. Food poisoning can be very dangerous in pregnancy so most doctors recommend that you stay away from foods that contain this bacteria. This list includes bologna and hotdogs. I had this thing for that cheese that the Menonites make but I couldn't have it because it wasn't pastuerized.

Firm cheeses are fine-it's the soft ones like brie that you have to cut way back on.

Yum! I love cheese too, whether I am pregnant or not!

As long as the milk from which the cheeses are made is pasturized, you're okay. The pasturization kills the bacteria that causes concern.

They recommend no soft cheese while you're pregnant. For example: Brie, Feta, Blue etc. Mmmmmmmmmmmm, now you have me wanting cheese! LOL

You can eat any cheese that is processed. It does not matter what type. Just read the label to see that it is processed. (Most American cheese are processed)

Avoid mould-ripened soft cheeses such as brie or camembert, blue-veined cheeses such as stilton. All are associated with listeria, which can lead to premature birth and miscarriage. You should also avoid mould-ripened goats' and sheep's milk cheeses, such as chèvre.

those are ok, but if you are really worried look for domesticly produced cheeses, they have to be made from pasturized milk!
