Our country is at war, our soldiers are getting killed daily and we have people hiding out in this country that hate us. But yet, every day, we get updates on Paris Hilton's jail sentence. Who cares???? If she didnt have the $$$ or the "status" that she has, she wouldnt make the daily news. She gets more press and recognition than the Lord these days it seems. Thats a shame!

Because she is a celebrity. The media covers what sells. You may not like her but other people like her, & even if they dont like her they are still interested as to what is going on with her. That is what being famous is all about & that means ratings for the media, & more people watching & more money from the advertisers..
And it is nonsense 2 say if she didnt have the money & status she wouldnt make the news. That goes for every celeb out there. The point is like it or not, she is rich, she is popular, & she has status.
The problems of the country gets covered in the news like always. It isnt as though the media is giving coverage to Paris Hilton 24 hrs. a day. A couple minutes of an update does not mean that the war is not being covered. I dont know what soldiers being killed & people hiding out that hate us have to do with the media covering Paris Hilton, but I am sure that when the media gets serious news they broadcast it.

It's because the news media has lost its mind! They are full of opinions and don't report unbiased views of current events. They don't even research if the facts are of real events... such as the "Death of Paris Hilton on June 12th".
I think the new media is trying to pump up the Hilton incident to a OJ or Michael Jackson level of attention. Probably seeking to get ratings up to pull in more advertisers.
Of course there are those conspiracy idiots think it's a ploy to take the Iraq War or Illegal immigration out of the lime light.

It's a sad sad world. You're right! I don't care. She's a person like all of us. If that were me, which it would never be me, I definitely wouldn't get media coverage. Nobody would care. But she's Paris Hilton. That's why! It's stupid, and we should be more concerned about the things that are legitimate crisis in the world.

She said herself she wants people to focus on other things besides her,like the men and women at war. I don't think she asked the press to hound her at her court appearance or anything. It's a shame that people keep going on and on about it, I agree.
