People often rely on sterotypes when they think of certain groups of people. Often this is when they have no contact with people who are of these groups. One of the main sterotypes of gay males is that they are camp. It may be hard for people to understand at first but they should eventually learn that just because you like men doesn't mean your going to run around and be a queen.
Point out your an individual, and just like not every hetrosexual person acts and dresses the same not all gay guys do.

Well not every gay guy is a flamer or feminine. Tell them that and be yourself! If you are gay, just be yourself, regardless if you are camp or not. Take it as a compliment from everyone though, because they are probably surprised you are gay, and probably wish you were straight so they could date you! good luck! :)

One of the most feminine men I've ever met was a straight guy, married with children. And some of the most butch guys I know are gay.

So...your friends need a reality check.

Not all gays are camp. Not everyone will understand that. Effeminacy and lisp are often stereotyped with gays. My gay boss is so manly that no one would have known about his sexual orientation unless he told him/her. Perhaps the only giveaway is that he's always groomed and well-dressed and he's never seen with a woman, except with his mother.

Well, at least you're helping to educate the people around you. Now they'll think twice about their stereotypes of gay people.

Thanks for explaining camp. Now, why can't you be happy?

Seriously though they have a stereotype and they cant get over it. It has been indoctrinated into them I would dare say.

What is camp??

- Edit -
Oh, thanks! I didn't know that. I will store that in my head!

Well, this may sound rather bad, but you can always bulge your muscles and say, "Well, you know, SOMEONE must be on top!"

(Argh! That was bad, wasn't it?)

Okay, here's another one. Tell them, "I keep my feather boa at home."
