Usually a virus does not announce its presence by placing an icon for itself on the desktop. Viruses try real hard to stay hidden and secret.

What happens when you click the vr-1 icon? That may give you a clue what it is and does.

If you are losing your Internet, it is more likely a "spyware" then a virus. Go to http://download.com and get the free Spyware Seek&Destroy program. It will clean any spyware you have on the PC. (Include vr-1 if it is a spyware).

Right-click on the icon, select Properties, then Find Target, and follow the path that the shortcut takes. If you don't recognize it, it is most likely a virus, or syware.

Boot into Safe Mode and do a full System Scan for spyware as well as viruses.

Safe Mode: reboot computer and start tapping the F8 key until you get a boot menu. Select Safe Mode using the arrow keys and hit Enter.

Don't have spyware/anti-virus? Here:

http://www.grisoft.com = AVG (free anti-virus)

Cheers

Well you could scan it with your anti-virus program to find out (assuming you have one). Also download and scan using ad-aware SE
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad_aware_free.php

Maybe?

Spyware or Adware?

Only a scanner can tell! But don't try doing any assumptions . . .
