Vacuum source is the engine intake manifold or carb/throttle body and the vacuum lines run from there to whatever component they are operating and in between. Large black lines are large hoses and small black lines are small hoses, etc... The diagram doesn't show component locations--just which vac line runs to what component...see attached example.
