its a matter of perception.and ethics. People who seem more smarter and respectable are considered attractive not because one is lighter skinned.I see lighter skinned people who are just repulsive. And most of the time people are so dumb they think anyone with lighter skin is attractive.

I suppose to some it would be and others not. Only once in my life did I meet a chap who was a member of the Jane religion. He was very light brown skin color but his daughters were more dark skinned as his wife . He said he was trying to arrange whiter skinned husbands for his daughters since he thought the family line was getting a little too dark. That is only one instance of this but there could be others with similar attitudes.

Africa, I am not certain. The biggest white population is in the Republic Of South Africa and up until the end of apartheid 20 years ago race mixing was against the law there. Of course somepeople went ahead with mixes relationships anyway but countless others may have been discouraged. Quite a few "colored" girls from there had the eye of world fashion photographers for a time and they were considred quite beautiful... even by hardened racists.

In certain parts of Africa have lighter skin is less of a benefit. Like America or Europe were black skin stands out, light skin stands out amongst a sea of darker skinned people.

Its not uncommon to see a Dutch-African mix where the skin is dark and the eyes are grey, hazel, or blue, especially in South Africa.

Check this out. I was talking with some Japanese women that were in town on business. I discoverer that they prefer very pale non muscular men. (I had to laugh. So many white American men spend time pumping iron and in tanning salons.) The reason is because in Japan, a man who has large muscles and tanned skin is a laborer. Men who have pale skin and no bulky muscles are most likely businessmen.

So here are these tanned Adonis types hitting on these Japanese women who think the men must be ditch diggers or something.

Funny how different cultures have such different standards. Here in the U.S. most women find muscular, darkly tanned men to be macho and sexy while pale and thin men as weak or nerdy.

In fact they revealed that most Japanese women use a skin lightening product on their own skin so as to be a pale as possible. They would hate to be thought of as peasants.

They are alarmed, though. It seems that today's youth in Japan is rejecting the standard and getting deep tans, tattoos and piercings.

The world turns.
