They are looking for something to eat and they like grubs worms. So have your lawn sprayed or you can put down some type of grub control. Would not say this will work good, but will help. The vibration things you can buy do work, but only for a few feet so not a good thing to use as you would need a lot of them (about 5 feet apart) to do the job. Wish I had a better answer for you as I don't like the moles in my yard either.

If you are certain it is Moles...
(because skunks can also dig yards)
the most likely reason they are digging is to find grubs to eat.
A moles diet is mostly grubs.

Don't buy into any of those ultra-sonic mole repellers or anything like that. Get some type of pesticide that destroys grubs. It usually comes in pellet form and must be watered into the ground by rain or manually. If you have any type of animals, keep them off the lawn during the few days after. Its okay to let a dog walk in the yard supervised after a day or two, but keep them from rolling around or digging up the lawn for a few days.
Once they realize their food is gone they will move on. It may take a week or two. Hopefully this should solve any mole problems.

Talprid is the product you NEED to use. It looks like a fishworm.
You find an active run and put it in the run (all the directions are on the box) and the mole eats it and dies. This product really works. You can get it at most garden centers and I believe Lowe's sells it under a different name. Just ask for the mole bait that looks like worm.

You can get rid of them TEMPORARILY but probably never permanently--- my brother (who is a regional sales rep for a LARGE pest control company) told me to get a vaccumn cleaner hose and attach it to the tailpipe of my car, THEN, stick the other end of the hose into one of the many MANY mole holes I have in my front yard and THEN turn the cars' engine on and let it run for 15 minutes....the carbon monoxide fumes will permeate the burrows and chase out the moles... you can then cover up the holes and treat your yard for the grubs and other food sorces of the moles that live in your grass. If you have children or PETS, you must be VERY CAREFUL what kind of chemicals you are using on your lawn ....

I have the same problem and I bought a chemical spray from Walfart and it didnt work..then a friend mentioned these vibration sticks that you put in the mole holes..apparently moles don't like the vibration/noise..

I've read on the net, that some have used those metal windmills too...which also creates a vibration.

Their natural enemies are cats. Get some cat poop. A vet or pet boarding place will do this for you. Make a few breaks in the mole runs, and put some poop in. The moles will leave.

My Father says to take a stick of gum (not sugar free) and stick it down the holes. The mole eats it and dies because it clogs them up Says he has done it for years and it works every time.

Dig into their tunnel every few feet or so and drop a few moth balls in there. All animals hate the smell of moth balls. That's how I keep critters out of my garden and away from my young trees. Works like a charm.
