I'm six weeks and lately I've been so forgettful! I'll tell my husband the same thing twice, then he laughs when he reminds me that I JUST told him that, I'm sending in incomplete reports at work, I'll forget that I even SENT a report and start to do it again, etc. Anyone else had this experience? Normally I'm very organized and together.

Yes, I'm almost 8 weeks pregnant, and lately I've been forgetting everything, even though my husband always said I had excelente memory and relied a lot on me for reminding him of things and helping him sole problems. Lately I've lost my keys, hit my car against a column in a parking lot (twice), I forget wether I've sent reports to my boss, and I don't even know what day of the week it is. My doctor and several books say it's normal to be very tired and forgetful during the first trimester because of the hormones and because most of your energy is know dedicated to building the baby's life support system for the rest of the pregnancy. And also you have a lot on your mind, so I wouldn't worry, it's frustrating but worth it.

I call this "Mommy Brain" syndrome. It's like the baby is just sucking up my brain cells leaving me incapable of thinking straight. I put the cereal box in the fridge and the milk in the cupboard the one day (hubby caught that one). I drive right past my street coming home from work too many times to count. I have to write everything down on the calendar (and that only works if I remember to look at it!).

It lets up some as you adjust to the hormones in your body as the pregnancy goes on, although my girlfriends tell me it gets worse again about a month before the baby is due. Then you just get frazzled and frustrated and overwhelmed after the baby is born and for the next 18 years or so, so I'm supposed to just get used to it LOL.

Yes ...I have had this experience and sometimes it was very dangerous, so please be careful....!!!

I did things like stop when the traffick light was green and sometimes I would not realize the red light meant stop and I would keep going. Sometimes I would stop too long at stop signs or I would get lost on my way to places I was familiar with. For instance I got lost going to church and had to turn around a couple times because I kept forgetting where it was I was going. This is an extreme case, but it happens. My midwife told me it was normal, but it scared me.

One more dangerous thing, I also would forget sometimes that I was cooking and one time i left the house with a pizza in the oven. Luckily I forgot my cell phone and came home sooner than I would have and smelled the blackened pizza in the oven.

During times of stress, it got worse!!!

At work, I would have to try over and over again just to file something in the drawer by alphabetical order!!! Or I would try to check e-mail and just glare at it, but not reading it. My fellow workers were not impressed. I also stopped hearing the phone for some reason. They thought I just didn't want to answer it, but my mind completely blocked out the noise. I felt really bad about it, but i had no control over it. I just had to get through it the best i could.

My advice....Be honest with people about what is happening to you!!! Let them know to keep an eye on what you're doing if you are on the job. If you are having an extreme case of air-headedness...tell your doctor and people who are around you. Hopefully they can be there for you when something might go really wrong. Don't take it lightly, but don't also believe the jokes that it lasts long after giving birth.

I'm sure there is some kind of scientific reason this happens, keep asking questions

I have coined the phrase "Babyitis" for all those idiotic/forgetful moments that I still have though not nearly as much when I was preg. My hubby & I joked that my dd is so smart because she took the majority of my I.Q. points. Later you can try the excuse of toddleritis. If you ever have baby questions that need to be answered or you want to talk a mom/adult check out www.a-mommys-world.com my screenname is babyjade. They're are nightly chats in the chatroom at 10pm

You are not 'losing your mind' ... you're just on 'cloud nine' over being pregnant and are busy 'thinking of the future' of you and your baby and husband ... try keeping a 'small tablet' and a pen with you and WRITING DOWN everything so you can 'check' to see if you've done it or not ... but be sure that you and your husband 'celebrate' this new 'stage' of your life, and then celebrate again after the baby is born. CONGRATULATIONS!

Yes! I couldn't even follow directions, I got lost in a large city for 3 hours, it was so frustrating. I was told it was due to hormone overload.
