I've only ever done that when I've been really stoned.
I try not to focus too much on the past.

Yes , when ever i have serious problem I either stare at the boundary wall visible from my window or the stars. Most of the time they are good company and help me to resolve or a least suggest some remedial actions for the problem. Some times I stare without any problem , and some important flashes occur of the past or on one or two occasions of the things to come in future.
Mostly the loners do it.

Yea, I do it every day. It's not a weird thing, so don't think of it as one. It helps me clear my head on a long days work. It's a good way to chill down when your mad or something, but yea i do all the time.

When I was a kid, I used to lay in bed, staring at the stars,............and wondered what the hell had happened to the roof

When I first wake up, in the morning.
When I am thinking to myself, in my room
that's it.
