32-bit. I know how to connect the components, I need to know how I would boot up to Windows VIsta after the upgrade takes place. I upgraded my dad's computer but when BIOS was searching for the BOOT.INI file it was unable to. Do I have to reinstall windows vista after the upgrade or what?

Thanks. The upgrade is shipping to my house tomorrow - Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 + 2GB DDR2 RAM.

YOu will more than likely have to reactivate windows unless you are not changing out the processor.

Ok. Since you using the same HD that shouldn't be a problem. Things to check make sure all the componets on new board compatable with Vista. Most likely you will be able to boot up then windows will automatically detect all new hardware(usually it does) but sometimes is not. If not go to device manager and look which hardware is missing drivers then locate appropriate driver on cd that came with board and install it. If for some reason Vista won't bootup then you will have to reinstall windows from scratch. Also since you changing hardware Vista probably will complain about it and will ask you to reactive windows.

Cheers, DS
