these days cell phones are compulsory. Lets face it, most people would be running around like chickens with there heads cut off. it a necessity to have a phone with you at all times during the day. its a material world.

It has never been compulsory to own one, it just makes people's life alot easier. I mean of someone wanted to get a hold of you for an important phonecall, you would maybe have to waste an entire day waiting for this specific phone call, nowadays you can just get them to call your mobile.
Mobile phones also make communication in a family emergency alot easy too. Say a freind or family member was hurt or injured and they went to hospital, then instead waiting untill you came home you would know right there and then...

I don't know about 'compulsory to own one.' But it is a pain in the butt trying to get a hold of people like you. My boyfriend didn't have a cell phone until about a month ago. We got in so many fights about him being late and not calling me, or him changing plans and not calling me, and so many other senarios like this. On top of that, he was always using mine, and his family would constantly call mine to get a hold of him. It was ridiculous. I think everyone should have one, the technology is there why not take advantage of it. Now he has one and pays $20 a month for min. plan and we fight a lot less.
