I don't really like the fact that he was allowed to just come back with a short time in AAA. How is this fair to other people?!?

Not a big fan of any player missing Spring Training let alone a the short time he spent in the minors.

I will give him credit for making sure his mind and body was 100% before he came back. At his age with his determinantion to win you have to take things slow and he did.

This isn't little league where everyone gets to play two innings... it is the major leagues. A team can and should hire anyone they can to help them win, or at least sell tickets.

You must be a soccer fan where it is great when games end in a tie, and if a player is touched they flop on the ground like they need a trip to the ER.... fair? hehehehe, I love it when a 40+ guy can buzz a rookie inside with a 90+ fastball. Clemens hit his own son!

The days of pitchers with 300+ career wins and 3000-4000 career strikeouts are fading fast. Anyone who can post numbers that good or better deserves special treatment because they are special pitchers. I'll say the same thing if Josh Beckett or Brandon Webb ever reach those milestones. But I doubt I'll get that chance. Not because they aren't talented pitchers, but because pitching has changed so much. It's far tougher to reach 300+ wins than it used to be.

Baseball is a business, not some kind of socialist organization. If a team is willing to pay an employee for service at any time, that's their decision. And when you've proven yourself for as long as Clemens has, then you have flexibility when it comes to decisions like that.

He's a star, a sure first ballot hall of famer! The man is an excellent pitcher and his stint in AAA was only to get him back in playing shape. This move was more to put butts in seats than to truly have a golden arm, but still he is a solid mlb pitcher and deserves to be in the bigs.

Alfie you are a moron---anyone who says Roger Clemens shouldn't be in the hall of fame clearly doesn't know a thing about baseball.

i think he is a jackass & any yankee fan who cheers for him is one as well. i can't believe that after the 2003 world series & Clemens said he was retiring then all of a sudden he winds up pitching 3 years in Houston that yankee fans who berated this asswipe are now cheering for him after 1 start.
if he had any balls which he hasn't, then he would have piched last week in Boston.
this guy does not deserve to be in the Hall of Fame.
he certainly is not a Tom Seaver, a class act.

Other people? The guy won more cy young awards then any "other people". Not to mention 349 wins. Although I do not feel that it is right to just play when you feel like it, based on his track record, this guy should be able to write his own ticket.

Haven't any of you ever been talked into doing something or ever changed your mind about something.

I'm sure $18 million would change my mind. Plus he gets pushed by his family and friends (especially Andy Pettitte) to continue playing.
