Home plate is considered part of fair territory, so it would be a fair ball.

The "black" around home plate shouldn't even be visible, as it's not part of the playing field.

the back tip of the plate is the starting point of measurement for the entire field, therefore everything foward of that point which includes the entire home plate, is fair territory.
Whether a batted ball hits the plate or not is completely irrelevant to whether it is fair or foul, fair/foul is determined by what happens next,
if a ball stops touching the plate it is the same as if it stops while touching the line or the outside of 1st or 3rd base: it is fair because part of the ball is touching part of fair terriotory.
if a ball hits the plate and bounces into fair territory it is a fair ball, however, if it hits the batter while he is still in the batters box (and its not intentional by the batter) then it is automattically a foul ball even though part of the batter's box is in fair territory
The reason home plate is shaped the way it is, is so that it can be entirely in fair territory but have a flat edge toward the pitcher,

The ball hitting the plate has no relevance as to whether it is fair or foul ball. The foul lines extend from the point of the plate to the left and right field foul poles thus putting the plate in fair territory. In fact if a ball is foul and then rolls fair or hits something and goes fair before reaching first or third base or is touched by a player it is a fair ball.

Home plate is in fair territory just as are the foul polls. All of home plate is in fair territory. If a batted ball stays on any part of the plate it is fair. The first and third base foul lines start by touching at the back of home plate and run to the left field and right field foul polls .

It's fair territory. Any batted ball hitting the plate is fair, but if it goes foul before it goes past the bag at first (or third), it's foul. Think of it as a bunt, in how it is treated. . . .

if the ball hits the plate and bounces fair without hitting the batter or anyone in foul territory, its a fair ball. it just like if the ball is bunted down one of the foul lines: if it bounces foul and rolls back fair its a fair ball.

The plate is considered fair territory.
If a player hits the ball and it hits the plate first before landing in fair ground, it is a live ball and in play.

The black around the point toward the catcher's position is foul. The rest is fair. The foul lines are supposed to be an extension of the white edges of the point.
