Not in our lifetime, but perhaps say 100 years into the future. What would happen if all of the manual labour jobs were taken by machines? Would there be no work avaliable for humans? And would the government be willing to pay out benifits to people if there was no work for them?

i doubt it. more manual labour jobs will go but machines aren't that advanced (present company excepted) and i doubt if 100 years will change that much. the last 100 has been incredible bordering on miraculous but if you look there has been a definite slowing down of advancements and we continually reach the future depicted in books and films without a hint of what was predicted.

Unless man can come up with a Robot, to replace a
woman..........i.e. Multitask, have babies, look after
babies, look after men ( strike that last one, it comes under
the baby title !)run a home, juggle finances, clean all
clothes and iron same, plus 100 other little jobs she does
to make life run smooth... then I think it will Never happen !

Maybe, or else we could be integrated with machines, like the one in "Aliens" or the Borg in Star Trek, the latter I would be more fearful of.
