Does someone who earns 30K or less a year even pay enough taxes to fix the roads they use, let alone pay for welfare? I read questions from young people who are just starting out in jobs...complaining about paying for welfare recipients, and I was wondering what the tax bracket for 'breaking even' is? How many rich people also pay OUR fair share of taxes? Should we make everyone pay equally? Or just welfare recipients?

Anyone who works and receives a paycheck has taxes deducted from the check. This money goes into the Federal tax revenue pool and is applied towards ALL programs.
Only a small percentage of your taxes go to social benefits such as "welfare". Most of it goes to fund the Military. Defense funding takes one of the biggest bites out of your paycheck. Your taxes fund roads and highways, schools, Social Security, pays the wages of public employees and many other things. While it's true that we all resent welfare, it is certainly NOT the most wasted money... The tax dollars that are wasted are the dollars the Government uses to fund special interest projects.... Those projects that benefit only the few (like corporations and big business) and leave us to pick up the slack.

I assume you are talking about income tax as oppsed to FICA or FUTA some other tax which is specifically earmarked for specific things. Of course those two are actually earmarked for welfare so they're a bad example.
When you pay income taxes the money basically goes in a general account from which the Congress attempts to budget for all their various funds and programs. This includes, welfare, but also the military, schools, roads, hospitals, salaries for government employees, the national debt, and bridges to nowhere. So basically, if you pay taxes a portion of it is used to pay for welfare.
Now then, as to who is paying the taxes - primarily the wealthy. In 2006 the average family of 4 could make around $41,800 of W-2 income without paying income tax. Less than that and you were almost garunteed a refund. For singles the amount was around $8K.
This of course assumes that all income was from W-2s and not self employment or as contract labor as those can get complicated.
So basically if a family made over $42,000 or an individual made over $8,000 then they're paying for all those who didn't. If you consider $8,000 per year wealthy then yes only the wealthy pay more than their fair share.

everyone who pays taxes helps support welfare. I make less than 30K and I pay taxes so I pay for welfare.

Taxes to fix the roads they use... that's a good one. Do you know what tiny fraction of government budgets go to fix and build roads? Do you know what giant portion of the federal budget goes to socialist entitlement programs?
The tax rate in this country is injustice. You don't have to be the victim of injustice to stand up against injustice, so I see no problem with poorer people standing up against high taxes. In the long run, low taxes are good for EVERYONE.

Seriously. I'd be happy to send these people a quarter per pay period. That's more than they pay in Welfare for the poor. However, they pay a lot more for corporate welfare.
