Should I quit my job because today is an important holliday?

ROFL...that was great! I would love to see someone quit over that, it would be funny. But also sad because it is so stupid. Yes, today is Flag Day, but does not deem appropriate to close a store business. Although, I am all for the day off, wish I were home now.

Though today is a holiday, it is not a requirement for him to close his bussiness, since only military installation will observe this day by flying a larger than usual flag. If it is not a religious holiday or holyday, your boss doesn't have to give you a day off, if your boss is a veteran then what he should do is to fly the MIA/POW (Missing in Action or Prisoners or War).
If you want to quit for such trivial holiday then it is your choice, he can't do anything about it, and you can't sue him for discrimination either since the government only observe this day as another holiday on the book to honor our Star Spangled Banner or the Old Glory.

How come people don't celebrate Flag Day? Shouldn't it be observed in some way if it's on the calendar? Anyway, I wouldn't quit just for today. Wait until a more serious matter comes.

Its not a federal holliday, so he doesnt have to close his doors.... And if you quit because of this, then thats fine... It will give a job to someone more deserving....

You can do what you want, I'm sure your boss won't care or change his opinions. It's his business, if it's not mandatory to close then he doesn't have to.
