Mathematics Dictionary (5th ed.) by Jones and Jones (1992, Van Nostrand) only has "square" for 2 and "cube" for 3.
Polynomials of various degrees do have names but these are not used past 6th power:
ax + b (degree 1) is linear
ax^2 + bx + c (degree 2) is quadratic or quadric (quad is from a root meaning square).
ax^3 + bx^2 + cx + d (degree 3) is a cubic
ax^4 + ... (degree 4) quartic
(degree 5) quintic
(degree 6) sextic
Following this trend, degree 7 should be septic (or heptic) and degree 8 should be octic; however, these words are not in the dictionary.
In general, we only use the words up to third degree (cubes and cubic); after that we only say "eighth degree" or "eighth power" or "eighth root" depending on what we are doing.
As in
a times x to the 4th power, minus b x cubed, plus c x squared minus d x plus 9
for
ax^4 -bx^3 +cx^2 - dx + 9
