I live near three U.S airbases in the U.K. and I think you`ll find that many British people would prefer the Sadam regime as well. At least Sadam`s thugs didn`t swerve about on the wrong side of the road in chrome plated monster trucks and blather on about their multistory Hifi speakers saying "F*ck yeah" between every other word.

The problem is security. I think since the security situation is such a mess many people are blaming the US troops for it. Yes we do share blame with this because we did not take proper steps to ensure the security after we toppled the regime. I remember a couple of months after many Iraqis said I am not happy about the security situation but it is better than living under sadaam, now they would rather have a tyrant run their country than having a fledgling democracy. Main reason, many Iraqis can not send their kids to school without having a major fear of seeing them kidnapped or blown up. If this were not the situation you would be hearing how Iraqis are happy to have the USA liberate them. Also ordinary Iraqis were more or less not bothered by the regime if you just went about your business and did not try to interfere with government affairs the government would leave you alone. I am not condoning sadaams regime, but this is how it worked so the brutality of the regime scared everyone but most iraqis did not have to face the wrath of the regime.

This is completely false. My brother is in Iraq right now. He is in the U.S. Army and he speaks with "Ordinary Iraqis" everyday. Again you are completely wrong on this issue. They want us there. They never mention things like this at all. They are all glad Saddam is gone.

Most Iraqis do not say that. However, a sizable portion of Sunnis may feel that way because they lost the ability to dominate the rest of the country. Also, Islam has the strange notion that a tyrannical Muslim is better than a benovelant non-Muslim. They refuse to accept non-Muslim administration (awliya).

First of all, you need to quit listening to NPR. What a joke they are. Get some credible information. Then your questions may have some accuracy in them.
