HUH? By secure it do you mean you enabled wpa? Your computer doesn't detect it, it connects to it. I would disable wpa/wep and just firewall the computer.

Maybe your computer was able to detect it at first and can't now? Or maybe the danged thing just isn't hooked up right? Like me, you may have just not seen every little step in their blamed instructions. I fiddled with it for an hour before I saw what I was doing wrong. Make sure you have every little cable in *exactly* the right hole!

Then, if you're absolutely positively sure you do, make sure, if your DSL provider requires a userid and password, that the router knows how to fetch that. Then last but not least, power down the DSL modem AND the router, and then wait, say, 10 seconds, then power on the modem, then wait another, say, 30 seconds, and power on the router, and...I guess that's all I can tell you, unless you have another computer hardwired, in which case, make sure the wireless one is defined and allowed to be part of the "family"

Not one to bash answers but the previous are pretty bad. First connect back to the router with your cable. Bring the wizard back up or go directly to the routers page if you know how to do that. DO NOT unsecure your next and firewall or mac filter. I would use at least WPA with a 20 character minimum passphrase. Use WPA-2 if both the router and wireless card can accept that. You do not need to broadcast your SSID either. In my opinion it is another layer of security not to but you also have be advanced enough to setup the card with those exact same settings. Also, try rebooting each piece of network equipment as well as the PC.

If using windows try pressing start> Accessories >command prompt in the window type. ipconfig /release
press enter
then type ipconfig /renew
press enter

Test your browser to see if you can access the internet
instead of using a wep you should use a mac filter if you only have a few pc's in the home. Make sure you put a password on you router through your internet browser.

in the command prompt again type ipconfig
this will list 2 important addresses you will need one is you default gateway (your routers ip address) and your mac address from your network card

Put the default gateway number in the address bar of your internet browser. This should give you a user name password window. Each router has a default username/ password you will have to look it up for yours otherwise one of your neighbors that steals your internet has put a password on it. But you can reset it with a button in the back(hold it down for 60 seconds). Play around in their their are probably some settings you can tweak like time zones and also your mac filter. Don't forget to press the save buttons. Hope this is not to much info.

did you disable the sending of ssid, if you did disable it your pc wont be able to see the router, you will need to tuen ssid back on again, if you are unable to get into the router again you will need to press the reset button on the back , it is a small button that you need to use a ballpoint pen to press it and it will be reset back to factory settings again
